Nourishing Meals for Postpartum Recovery
Before I became a mother, I studied neuroscience at Penn. After graduating, I moved to Brooklyn and was inspired to turn my kitchen into a science lab, experimenting with fermented hot sauces, various preserves and even koji and miso. When I arrived in California in 2019, I started a sourdough microbakery. I thought I understood nourishment. Then I had my own baby, and suddenly all that knowledge meant something completely different. These are the meals I wished someone had made for me: warming, nutrient-dense, designed around what your body is actually asking for during recovery. Every ingredient has a reason. Every recipe is rooted in both ancient tradition and modern understanding of what postpartum bodies need.
Our Story
Why Mothership
It's postpartum care in the form of food — backed by research, built on tradition, made with the kind of attention your recovery deserves.
Every meal is designed around what your nervous system needs during recovery — warming foods that signal safety, nutrient density that rebuilds what birth depletes, and flavors that anchor you in the present moment.
Cultures worldwide have nourished new mothers with warming broths, slow-cooked stews, and nutrient-dense whole foods for thousands of years. We didn’t reinvent the wheel — we honored it.
Monika cooks every batch by hand in Paso Robles using locally sourced, organic ingredients. Small batches. Real food. The kind of cooking that used to come from your village.
Simple, because you have enough going on
Warming soups, protein-rich stews, gentle grains. Each meal designed for what your body needs right now
Everything is made fresh, then frozen at peak nutrition. Science tells us this preserves more nutrients than many 'fresh' meals that travel days to reach you
Your meals arrive frozen, ready in minutes. Expecting? Order 3-4 weeks before your due date. You'll thank yourself later
Our most popular packages, each one designed to support different stages of recovery

Backed by Research
From the neuroscience of being fed to the cross-cultural wisdom of postpartum warming foods — our meals aren't based on trends. They're based on evidence.
From mothers who've been there
As a new mom, you're given a sacred role of caring for a precious child. It's all-encompassing and it becomes challenging to care for yourself when so much of you is being given to your child, especially in those first weeks and months right after birth. I can't say enough about how the meals I received from Monika nurtured me body and soul. The deep flavors in every bite made me feel cared for when I was giving all of myself to my new role as "Mom". It's hard to find the words to express the change that happens after giving birth. As a new mom, you go into survival mode. Using every minute you have two hands available to take care of the essentials. Wash bottles, drink water, bathroom, eat, sleep, shower. Having such high-quality and delicious meals available from Mothership removed an extra level of stress when it came to feeding myself and making sure I had the energy to give back to my child. I didn't have to think about trying to cook something in my limited free time because I had the most amazing soups lovingly prepared for me ready to go. Every bite is like a warm hug making you feel cared and truly nourished.
